The terms for using this site. There is nothing to sign up for, so these are mostly about what the content is and is not.

What this site provides
Scrape & Shield publishes editorial research and opinion about winter car equipment. Recommendations are based on manufacturers' published specifications and on arithmetic derived from them. We have not tested any product recommended here, and every page that makes a recommendation says so. The complete method is on how we pick.
This is not professional advice
- Nothing here is mechanical, engineering, legal or safety advice, and the author holds no relevant certification.
- Always follow the instructions supplied with any product you buy, and your vehicle owner manual, over anything written here. Where the two conflict, the manufacturer wins.
- Some things we describe carry real risk if done badly - fitting chains on a vehicle with insufficient clearance, running an engine with a snow-blocked exhaust, working near a battery. Where we know of a risk we flag it, but we cannot anticipate your vehicle or your situation.
- Legal requirements for tires, chains and snow removal vary by state and change. Check the requirement that applies where you are driving rather than relying on a general description here.
Accuracy
We work hard to get this right and we still get things wrong. Specifications change, products are discontinued and manufacturers revise formulations without announcing it. Content here is provided as-is, without warranty of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose.

Prices shown are pulled from a live check and carry the date they were checked. They are indicative only. The retailer's own page is always the authority on price, availability and shipping, and a price can change between our check and your click.
